Contingency planning, preparedness and response in environmental health emergencies

This Thematic Working Group will be divided into two subgroups namely: (1) disasters from natural hazards and associated environmental health issues, such as water, sanitation, waste management, food safety, vector control, etc.; and (2) industrial or technological emergencies involving hazardous substances, such as toxic chemicals, flammable and explosive materials, radioactive materials, etc.

2008
Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on Contingency Planning, Preparedness and Response in Environmental Health Emergencies
In general, the symposium workshop was a success based on the attendance, the participation, the enthusiasm exhibited and commitment expressed by the participants. The dynamism of interaction was not at all affected by the inability of a delegate from Indonesia to attend the activity. The quality of paper presentations, the range of the workshop output and the commitment of World Health Organization to support the future plans clearly show the extensive gains of the Regional Thematic Working Group on Contingency Planning for Environmental Health Emergencies.
